The main ingredients in Absolut Vodka are water and winter wheat. The water comes from a deep well in Åhus where it's protected from impurities. Winter wheat differs from other crops: it's sown in fall, and harvested the next one. Days in between it grows under the Swedish snow developing its hard grain.

It was one of the better vodkas when it was introduced but there are much better ones today. People who swear by it now might be die hard fans or haven't tried any new brands. But that being said, Absolut has been able to withstand the test of time with its smooth, clean and crisp flavor.

Controversies. After pausing its operations in Russia, due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Pernod Ricard resumed the export of Absolut Vodka in April 2023, leading to much criticism in Sweden. As a result, Absolut decided to once again stop its operations in Russia.
